Bend Defeats Vigilantes, 8-1

The Vigilantes, who continue to struggle at home, lost to Bend, 8-1, in a Western Baseball League game Sunday in front of an announced crowd of 1,865 at Saddleback College.

It was the Vigilantes’ fifth loss in six games of this home stand, which continues Tuesday when the Pacific Suns come in for a series.

Two errors and Randy Kapano’s two-run homer in the first inning gave Bend a 3-0 lead. The Bandits (18-16) led after three innings, 6-0.

Brian Grebeck had two hits and drove in a run and Manny Gagliano and Tim McDonnell each had two hits for the Vigilantes (15-19).

Bend’s Collin Kerkey (5-2) gave up eight hits and one run in seven innings to get the victory.

Brent Hansen (1-3), who gave up 10 hits and eight runs in six innings, was the loser.
