Miroslav Satan recorded his second career hat trick and Olympic standout Dominik Hasek stopped 36 shots for his eighth shutout as the Buffalo Sabres defeated the Washington Capitals, 3-0, Sunday, at Washington, extending their unbeaten streak to 12 games.

Satan, who has a team-leading 20 goals and 37 points, opened the scoring on a power-play putback 2:51 into the game.

“I got lucky to get a good shot on the rebound,” said Satan, 23. “It’s so much better when we score the first goal. We know if we make some mistakes, Dominik will fix it.”
