Coastline to Offer Fiber-Optic Program
To meet demands of new technology, Coastline Community College will offer Orange County’s first certificate program in fiber- optic cable installation and splicing.
In an effort to respond to industry needs, the project will develop a series of workshops and short-term classes. Coastline will work with private industry to create internships and employment opportunities.
The program is funded by a state grant to train students to work with the cables, which can rapidly transmit high volumes of information.
Programs should begin in June. The grant allows $41,590 for the first year and $88,608 for the second.
