Red Cross Is Seeking Teenage Volunteers

Share

Valley teenagers willing to volunteer for emergency work, including disaster-relief planning and CPR, are invited to attend a Red Cross youth club orientation from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday.

It will be held at the San Fernando Valley Service Center of the American Red Cross at 14717 Sherman Way.

Teens between 14 and 19 will learn about helping families whose homes are destroyed by fire, assisting Holocaust survivors in tracking down loved ones and information on volunteer jobs at the Blood Services Unit of the Red Cross in Van Nuys.

“Some of our teenage volunteers end up pursuing careers in health fields,” Red Cross spokesman Mike Powers said. “The best part is they get to meet like-minded teens with whom they share an interest in community service.”

For more information, call the Red Cross Valley Service Center at (818) 376-1747.
