UC Graduates

Lost amid the controversy over the use of SATs for admission to the UC system (“UC Panel Backs Use of SATs for Admissions,” Feb. 20) is a larger question: How does the public know that graduates of its tax-supported university system have achieved what the university claims they have? At present, there is no objective measure to determine this crucial question. The only data available are what UC puts out and that is, of course, transparently self-serving.

Eliminate the double standard at work between UC and secondary schools and require that all UC seniors pass a standardized test before they can graduate.
