* Angela Lansbury was among the guests when Bea Arthur and Joely Fisher performed highlights from “Gypsy” at the sixth annual “A Night at Sardi’s.” The event, held Feb. 25 at the Regent Beverly Wilshire, netted $450,000 for the Los Angeles Alzheimer’s Assn., which provides services to 150,000 people with Alzheimer’s disease and their families in the Los Angeles area. Journalist Laurie Burrows Grad served as chairwoman.

The Associates for Breast Cancer Studies presented a check for $400,000 to the John Wayne Cancer Institute on Feb. 25 at the unveiling of a “Wall of Honor” at the ABS Beverly Hills facility to recognize the generosity of donors to the search for a cure. The funds were raised at the ABS annual gala in November.

Steve Allen entertained the 325 guests at the Torrance Cultural Arts Center Foundation’s third annual gala fund-raiser Feb. 15 at the Torrance Hilton. The sell-out dinner--with underwriting from corporations including Allied Signal, Mobil and Toyota--brought in $100,000 for the Cultural Arts Center, which provides community arts activities such as affordable children’s theater.

The Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive Care Units at Huntington Memorial Hospital have received $50,000, proceeds raised by the National Charity League Juniors of San Marino at their New Year’s Eve “Celebration of Miracles” benefit at the Biltmore. The donation is earmarked for purchase of three transcutaneous monitors, which make possible a noninvasive measurement of the oxygen level in critically ill newborns.
