Arizona Holds Off UCLA

Arizona briefly lost its composure in the second half, but the No. 9 Wildcats made sure they didn’t lose the game.

Adia Barnes scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as Arizona defeated No. 23 UCLA, 84-73, Saturday night at Tucson.

Marte Alexander added 15 points for the Wildcats, 21-6 overall, 14-4 in the Pacific 10.

UCLA (19-8, 14-4) trailed, 52-31, at halftime but closed to 75-70 with 2:39 remaining.

Arizona then forced four turnovers in the final two minutes as the Wildcats beat the Bruins for the fifth consecutive time.

Maylana Martin led UCLA with 24 points, 16 in the second half.

USC 75, Arizona State 62--Adrain Williams scored 19 points and Kristin Clark added 18 as the Trojans won at Tempe, Ariz.

Tiffany Washington and Kiyoko Miller had 14 points apiece for USC (12-15, 7-11).

Stephanie Freeman paced the Sun Devils (10-17, 6-12) with 14 points and six assists.

UC Santa Barbara 86, Boise State 69--Erin Buescher scored 28 points and the Gauchos claimed their second consecutive Big West tournament championship and an automatic NCAA berth by defeating the Broncos at Reno.

Nicole Greathouse added 14 points, Tandee Taylor had 11 and Kristi Rohr 10 for Santa Barbara (26-5), which earned its fourth NCAA tournament berth.
