What: “Classic Madness”

Where: Classic Sports Network, through March 30.

To celebrate the NCAA tournament and March Madness, Classic Sports is showing 23 NCAA tournament games. Nice idea, but only two UCLA games will be shown, and both are losses.

One problem is the Classic Sports people didn’t dig very deep for tapes. There is nothing before 1982, so none of John Wooden’s 10 championships are on the ledger. Neither is the Bruins’ title victory over Arkansas in 1995 under Jim Harrick, nor their win over Missouri on the way to that championship.

But UCLA’s loss to Princeton in the first round in 1996 is scheduled. It will be shown Wednesday at 7 p.m., in case you’re interested.

Up first Sunday night was the 1993 championship game between Michigan and North Carolina, the game famous for Chris Webber calling an illegal timeout. That game will be repeated at 11 a.m. today. On Wednesday at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m., sandwiched around UCLA-Princeton, is an Auburn-Richmond first-round game. Auburn is led by Charles Barkley and Chuck Person, and Richmond has Johnny Newman.

* Kentucky-Duke in the 1992 East Regional final on Wednesday, March 25, at 7 p.m.

* North Carolina State’s upset over Houston in the 1983 championship game on Sunday, March 29, 5 p.m.

* Connecticut’s Lady Huskies vs. Tennessee’s Lady Volunteers in the 1995 women’s national championship game on Monday, March 30, at 5 a.m. (set the VCR).
