Arson Suspected in Fire at Dry Cleaners
Arson is suspected in a fire that broke out early Tuesday morning at a dry cleaners, fire officials said.
The blaze caused $420,000 in damage to Valley View Cleaners at 17487 Imperial Highway. The building, which houses six commercial businesses, had no sprinkler system, but firefighters had the fire under control within an hour, said Capt. Scott Brown of the Orange County Fire Authority.
“Although fires in these buildings usually spread rapidly, we were able to confine the fire to the cleaners, with minor damage to two surrounding restaurants,” Brown said.
No one was injured in the fire at the single-story building. Fire investigators remained at the site until late Tuesday morning, and a K-9 unit dog trained to detect flammable liquids was called in, Brown said.
Investigators determined that the fire was set intentionally and will continue their investigation.
