Young artists are invited to design a poster advertising a televised auction to raise money for the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center.

Simi Valley students in grades one through 12 may enter the contest. The deadline for submission is Monday at 3 p.m.

First-place winners from each grade school category--elementary, middle and high school--will win a $100 savings bond. The winning posters may be used to advertise the “Cultural Pride Telethon and Auction” scheduled for broadcast on public-access Channel 19 on April 29.

Foundation organizers are hoping to raise $75,000 from the auction to support the center, which offers theater and other arts programs.

Posters must be an original creation displaying this year’s theme of “cultural pride in Simi Valley.” They can be made from any medium except collage but must be designed on a white background and must not be larger than 11 inches by 14 inches.

The student’s name, age, telephone number, grade level and school must be marked on the back of the poster.
