Two reds and a Whole Lot of Green

red Shift: The red restaurants jointly owned by David Forrest Reiss and Michael Gans have been split up like property in a divorce. Reiss keeps red Hollywood, Gans gets red Santa Monica. Gans’ chef will be Mary Cleary; Reiss has hired Chris Bocchino as chef consultant. Meanwhile, red Santa Monica is going south-of-the-border (“A better idea for Santa Monica,” says Gans) and even ditching its lowercase name. When it reopens in early April, it will be La Sirena.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations: Gilliland’s Cafe is serving up piles of Irish food March 17, starting with a basket of Irish soda bread and milk rolls. For appetizer, there’s potato griddle cakes with salmon or a Blarney cheese and onion tart. Main courses include stuffed pork loin (recipe from Ballymaloe House in County Cork). Desserts involve Bailey’s liqueur and Irish whiskey. ‘Nuff said. Gilliland’s Cafe, 2424 Main St., Santa Monica; (310) 392-3901. . . . Jimmy’s offers three-course menus at lunch ($35) and dinner ($55; served until midnight). Entrees include Irish lamb stew and peppered salmon. McCormick & Schmick’s offers a $1.95 Irish breakfast buffet (8-10:30 a.m.) featuring green eggs and ham (yes, M&S; will pour green beer for St. Pat’s). After 3 p.m., there’s another $1.95 buffet including corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew. Muldoon’s Pub will have Irish menu specials such as shrimp and scallop pie and corned beef.
