Council Debates Naming Park or Building for Reagan

Share

Ronald Reagan’s political views sparked debate on the City Council recently when Councilman Bob Zemel proposed that the former president’s name be attached to a city park or building.

Zemel and Councilman Tom Tait said the gesture would be a nice tribute. But Mayor Tom Daly--noting a national trend of naming things after Reagan--said such a tribute might dishonor the former president because of his oft-stated belief in limited government.

Zemel remains optimistic: “Hopefully we can find something within the city’s limits to name after someone who has done so much.”
