Chabot Qualifies for Roster Spot

The Kings found out from a league memo Thursday that goaltender Frederic Chabot has qualified for an off-season roster spot because he has played enough minutes and games to be exposed for the upcoming expansion draft.

Chabot, on injured reserve because of a sprained right knee suffered in Tuesday’s victory at Phoenix, has a 3-3-2 record and will also be credited for playing in at least two more games, giving him 10 for the season. Chabot played more than 30 minutes in relief of Stephane Fiset in early season losses at Toronto and Vancouver.

“We were working under the assumption that the minutes might not be rounded up,” King General Manager Dave Taylor said. “Freddie played in a couple of games where he played 30 minutes and over 30 seconds. Now, both of those games will count as 31 minutes for expansion draft purposes.”
