Hearing to Address Film Permit Revision

Share

Residents will have a chance Monday night to discuss a proposed revision to the city’s film permit ordinance.

Oxnard’s Economic Development Corp. is marketing the city as a prime coastal film location, hoping to draw more film crews to town and to persuade studios to build permanent production sites.

However, some residents have complained that television shows such as “Melrose Place” have created traffic congestion and noise pollution.

On Monday, officials hope to gather input on how such problems can be prevented. They have considered restricting the times of day when film crews can shoot, as the city of Thousand Oaks recently did.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Heritage Square Chapel, 731 A St. For more information, call 385-7444.
