Resurgence of Prostitution Prompts Plan for Assembly Bill

In an effort to crack down on the resurgence of prostitution on Sunset Boulevard, state Assemblyman Wally Knox (D-Los Angeles) has announced plans to introduce a bill that would make it easier for police to arrest pimps.

The law, patterned after a similar one that targeted prostitutes two years ago, would give police officers “a legal basis to arrest pimps for loitering with the intent to ply their trade,” Knox said Thursday night in Hollywood.

The bill is expected to be heard in the Assembly Health and Safety Committee within two weeks, Knox said.
