Bristol Retail Posts Loss

NEWPORT BEACH — Bristol Retail Solutions Inc., a provider of local area network products and services to retailers, said it lost $3.6 million, or 64 cents a share, for the fourth quarter, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $89,941, or 2 cents a share. Revenue rose to $6.7 million from $2.1 million.
For the year, the company had a net loss of $5 million, or 96 cents a share, compared with a net loss of $106,625, or 3 cents a share, for 1996. Revenue grew to $21.1 million from $4.2 million.
The company said the 1997 net loss included onetime write-offs of $2.6 million, including a $1.9-million reduction in goodwill, and severance costs related to the closure of two facilities.
