School Bond Issue

Share

I disagree with Jere Robings’ letter published March 15. I fully support the $97-million bond initiative to help Conejo Valley schools. Our school buildings are in need of repair and there is no money left in the budget to cover these costs. Every year it is put off. Well, it can’t be ignored any longer.

Children are our future. There is no better group to spend taxes on. Yes, people don’t enjoy paying taxes but there is a purpose for taxes and this is a prime example of putting the good of the whole first. Given a good education, children grow up to be valuable citizens, leaders of our community and future taxpayers who will help the older generation. It is so short-sighted to deny them a safe, clean, comfortable environment in which to learn and prepare for the future.

People live in Conejo Valley for a family-friendly lifestyle--for the beauty of the hills, safety of the community and high caliber of our schools. Yet the physical conditions of schools do not reflect our community. Please join me in changing that. On April 14, vote yes on Measure V and our children’s future.
