Crowded Buses

Re “Bus Riders Can’t Stand the Jams,” March 17:

Now, if we could only move on past words to a real change: more buses, which would not only make travel easier for commuters but would create more jobs. With more upgraded buses, everyone would be a lot happier.

* Can someone explain to me what is going on with the MTA’s spending priorities? They are giving, not lending, $348 million to the Alameda Corridor project, which will benefit private businesses moving freight from San Pedro to Los Angeles. Yet they can’t find the money to purchase more buses or complete the half-finished Blue Line, which would move people from Pasadena to Los Angeles.

Further, the MTA continues to drag its feet on the installation of bike racks on the bus fleet, a proven way to make the buses more effective.
