Something Fishy Is Goin’ On in Colorado

Fish for 25-inch rainbow trout in Colorado on a three-day fly-fishing trip Aug. 21 to 23. Participants fly to Denver and are transported to their cabin with a view of the Rocky Mountains. The fishing begins on Lunker Lake for rainbow and brook trout. Guests will also fish in a stretch of river for 15- to 22-inch brown trout.

Italy Favorites

A 12-night vacation to the Italian Riviera and Lake Region will run Sept. 12 to 25. Participants will stay in the lakeside town of Bellagio on Lake Como to visit the gardens of Villa Serbelloni. Three nights will be spent in the secluded Cinque Terre area at a beachfront hotel in Monterosso al Mare. Guests will explore the other fishing villages by hiking an ancient footpath through olive orchards and vineyards. Basel Art Fair

There’s art in Switzerland too. The Orange County Museum of Art is hosting a museum tour to Basel, Switzerland, June 2 to 13. Participants will tour collections in private homes, museums and at the Basel art fair. They will travel to Geneva and Gstaad. The art tour also emphasizes fine dining, and guests will dine in museum settings and in collector’s homes.

Alaska Cruise

A five-night cruise to Alaska leaves May 20 from Juneau and features ports along the Inside Passage, including Sitka, Haines, Skagway and Glacier Bay National Park. Guided shore excursions to historical sites and other points of interest are included. The cruise pauses at remote areas along the way to allow passengers the opportunity to explore by sea kayak and take hikes on shore. Tours run regularly through Sept. 12.

Russian Battlefields

A World War II history trip to Russia visits sites where battles were fought. The 13-day, 11-night excursion for 25 travelers runs Aug. 9 to 21 and stops in St. Petersburg, Moscow and Volgograd. Among places visited in St. Petersburg will be the Piskarevskoe memorial cemetery, where 600,000 are buried in mass graves; the artillery and signal corps museum; and the cruiser Aurora.

The Moscow visit includes military museums, memorials and the annual air force show at Tushino airport. In Volgograd, there will be a battlefield tour in and outside what was once Stalingrad, where a 1942 battle was fought.

Eritrea and Ethiopia

Archeological Tours is offering a tour to Eritrea and Ethiopia, Nov. 12 to Dec. 1, led by antiquities scholar Mattanyah Zohar.

The tour begins in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea, and features visits to ancient Axumite cities in southern Eritrea and northern Ethiopia. Guests explore the churches around Gonder and the rock-cut churches of Lalibela, as well as sites in southern Ethiopia, before ending in Ethiopia’s capital of Addis Ababa, with visits to its museum and bazaars.

The tour highlights the remains of the region’s great historical periods as well as the opportunity to see traditional lifestyles in the countryside, where ancient agriculture and pastoral nomadism continue.

Music in Santa Fe

Tune in to the vibes of Santa Fe on a music tour of New Mexico July 14 to 19.
