Animal Billboards

The L.A. City Council was cowardly in toning down the proposed public service campaign using billboards to depict what happens when people don’t spay and neuter their pets: namely, trash cans overflowing with dead cats and dogs (March 12).

As president of a local humane organization for cats, I have seen the poster in question. It is graphic and disgusting but it gets one’s attention and definitely makes a huge and unforgettable impact. It would have given a much-needed jolt to everyone viewing it and perhaps done some good.
