Alumni Report
A weekly look at the progress of former Orange County prep athletes.
UC DAVIS MEN’S BASKETBALL
* County connections: Jon Surface (Santa Ana College, Pacifica High); J.C. Timmons (Irvine Valley College, Santa Margarita High); Chris Vlasic (Pacifica High).
* Worth noting: The trio contributed a great deal as UC Davis beat Kentucky Wesleyan, 83-77, Saturday to win the NCAA Division II national championship. Timmons, a hard-slashing junior guard, had 12 points in the title game. He averaged nine points on the season. Surface, a 6-8 senior forward, had 10 in the championship game and Vlasic, a senior 6-4 forward who was a co-captain, had five in the title game after averaging 10 for the season. Surface averaged eight. This is the second title that Surface and Vlasic won together. The pair helped Pacifica to a Southern Section title in 1994.
