Timmons, Babashoff to Be Inducted
Former Orange County standouts Steve Timmons (Orange Coast) and Shirley Babashoff (Golden West) are among those being inducted Thursday into the California Community College Hall of Fame at the state convention in San Diego.
Timmons played on Orange Coast’s state championship basketball team in 1979 and also was on the volleyball team. Timmons went on to play volleyball at USC and won gold medals in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
Babashoff won eight Olympic swimming medals and set 11 world records from 1972 to 1976.
Also being inducted are: Hall of Fame second baseman Joe Morgan (Merritt College), Olympic diving gold medalist Pat McCormick (Long Beach) and distance runner Ruth Wysocki (Citrus).
