Body Armor Ban

An Assembly committee voted unanimously Tuesday to support a bill to prohibit convicted felons from owning the type of body armor that was used by two bank robbers in last year’s North Hollywood shootout. The bill by Assemblyman Scott Wildman (D-Los Angeles) would make possession of the armor a felony, punishable by up to three years in jail and a fine of up to $10,000. The bill is expected to come to a vote of the full Assembly in April or May.
