Two drive-by shootings in three minutes left one man dead and another in critical condition Tuesday, Santa Ana police said.
The attacks, which officers said appeared to be gang-related, happened at 7:14 p.m. and 7:17 p.m., and just five blocks apart.
The first shots were fired at Myrtle and Shelton streets, officers said, striking a man once in the head. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was listed in critical condition, Police Lt. Bob Chavez said.
The second shooting was at 2nd and Olive streets, where another man was hit several times. Chavez said that victim was taken to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead.
The names and ages of the victims were not released Tuesday night.
Police said they had not determined whether the two shootings were related.
