Missing Man Found Dead With Gunshot Wound in Chest
Police sent to an apartment to check on a missing man found his decomposing body with a gunshot wound to the chest, authorities said Wednesday.
Officers found the body of 34-year-old Michael Alexander Avilez about 11:20 a.m. in the living room of a duplex in the 700 block of Laconia Boulevard, said Los Angeles Police Officer Mike Partain.
Avilez, who was from Belize, had not been seen for about a week, and family members called police to ask them to check on him, Partain said.
Avilez’s 1988 Buick Regal with California license 3JJK985 was missing and presumed stolen, he said.
Anyone with information about Avilez’s death or the whereabouts of his car is asked to call detectives at (213) 485-2504.
