Finnerty Double Helps Moorpark Rally in 8th Inning

Meaghan Finnerty’s two-out, two-run double sparked a three-run rally in the eighth inning for Moorpark in a 4-1 Frontier League softball victory over Malibu on Wednesday at Malibu.

J.J. Jaegge’s fifth-inning run-scoring triple tied the score, 1-1.

Jaegge finished with two hits for Moorpark (15-4, 11-1 in league play), as did Jenni Perez.

Malibu slips to 5-11, 4-7.

In other games:

Agoura 3, Westlake 1--Jennifer Grennan threw a five-hitter, had one hit and scored twice for the Chargers (11-8, 5-5) in a Marmonte League victory at Westlake.

Chrissy Davie had two hits for Agoura. Katie Kearns scored the only run for Westlake (10-12, 4-7) on a single by Angela Funk in the third inning.

Hoover 16, Muir 0--Carol Arrazolo was three for three, drove in one run and scored three others in a Pacific League game at Hoover that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Nicole Platt had a three-run double in the fourth for Hoover (12-10, 4-3) and had another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the second.

Hailey Henning (2-3) gave up three hits, struck out eight and walked two for the Tornadoes.

Crescenta Valley 12, Pasadena 0--Meredith Cervenka and Melinda Moulden combined for a one-hitter for Crescenta Valley (20-5, 7-0) in a Pacific League game that went six innings because of the 10-run rule at Pasadena.

The duo allowed only two baserunners in the game.

Cervenka (14-0), who pitched four innings, now has 47 consecutive scoreless innings.

Becca Baldridge, Laura Scott and Erica Fernandez each had two hits for Crescenta Valley, ranked No. 8 in The Times’ regional poll.

Harvard-Westlake 2, Notre Dame 0--Jenny Bruno had two hits, driving in one run and scoring once for host Harvard-Westlake (12-11, 4-3) in a Mission League game.

Veronica Brooks had a run-scoring double for the Wolverines.

Canoga Park 17, Van Nuys 1--Jenny Pitillo pitched a five-hitter with eight strikeouts and also had three hits and three RBIs for the Hunters (6-9, 4-6) in an East Valley League victory at Van Nuys.

Pitillo walked one and allowed one unearned run in the first inning. Lori Kuebler had four hits and Sandra Villa and Carina Leon each added three hits for Canoga Park. Villa drove in three runs and Leon two.

Cornerstone Christian 14, Cate 1--Tiffanie Monzo and Julia Tamai hit back-to-back doubles and Karri Becker had a two-run single in a four-run first inning for Cornerstone Christian (17-3, 9-0) in a Condor League game at Cate.

Shannon Brown, Becker and Monzo finished with three hits each and Julia Tamai had two hits and two RBIs.
