SANTA CLARITA — The bullet-riddled body of a man was found Friday morning slumped over the steering wheel of a rental car parked along the Antelope Valley Freeway, authorities said.
California Highway Patrol officers discovered the body at 3 a.m. when they responded to a report of a traffic accident on the freeway north of Shadow Pines Boulevard, said Officer Doug Sweeney of the CHP’s Newhall Station.
The victim had been shot several times in the upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene by rescue workers, Sweeney said. Until relatives could be notified, investigators would identify the man only as a 28-year-old from Van Nuys.
The incident was being investigated by Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives, Sweeney said.
