Brewers Put Fox on Disabled List

Milwaukee right-handed reliever Chad Fox will join starter Jose Mercedes on the 15-day disabled list because of tendinitis in his right shoulder, according to Brewer Manager Phil Garner.

Fox underwent a MRI exam in Milwaukee to determine what could be causing the problem with the shoulder.

Garner, with the team in St. Louis, was asked about suspicions that Fox might have a torn rotator cuff, and he replied, “Definitely not true.”

Fox, who has a 2.92 earned run average in 18 appearances, remained behind when the team left for St. Louis on Monday.

Mercedes went on the 15-day DL last week with a strained pitching shoulder after he gave up 12 runs in a loss to San Diego.

Hank Aaron and Don Sutton will take part in pregame ceremonies when the Atlanta Braves visit Milwaukee County Stadium next month for the first time since leaving to Atlanta after the 1965 season.

Sutton will throw out the first pitch June 1 before the Atlanta Braves play the Milwaukee Brewers, who this season became the first major league team to move from the AL to the NL.

Aaron, who threw out the first pitch before the Brewers’ home opener against Montreal last month, will throw out the first pitch June 2.
