Baltimore pitcher Doug Johns, on the disabled list since May 8 while undergoing treatment for insomnia, has been cleared to begin throwing again, Manager Ray Miller said Thursday.

U.S. District Judge John S. Martin, in a decision in New York, refused to block Pacific Trading Cards from selling baseball cards without a license from the marketing arm of the clubs. Pacific had obtained approval from the Major League Players Assn.

Florida Marlin right-handed reliever Antonio Alfonseca was put on the 15-day disabled list because of a pulled right groin muscle, and was replaced by pitcher Manuel Barrios.
