Deadline Nears for Absentee Ballots
The deadline to apply for absentee ballots through the mail for the June 2 primary is May 26.
Thereafter, absentee ballots must be picked up in person from the county elections office at the County Government Center, or by a personal representative with written authorization, county elections officials said.
Applications for absentee voter ballots are included in sample ballot and voter information pamphlets.
Meanwhile, with voter registration having closed May 4, elections officials report 391,973 registered voters in the county.
Registered voters number 164,725 Republicans, 155,237 Democrats and 50,047 who decline to state a party affiliation.
Other affiliations include American Independent, 8,822; Reform, 2,863; Green, 2,794; Libertarian, 2,141; Peace and Freedom, 1,917, and Natural Law, 1,035.
Another 2,392 voters are registered with a number of smaller political parties.
Those voting by absentee ballot must return their ballot by mail, in person to the elections office or to any member of a polling place board in Ventura County before the close of polls on election day.
Absentee voters who because of illness or other physical disability cannot return their ballot may designate an immediate family member to do so.
