Mussina Stays on Active List

Mike Mussina, who suffered a broken nose and cut face when struck in the face by a Sandy Alomar line drive Thursday night, will not be put on the disabled list.

With Mussina’s status uncertain, the Orioles recalled right-hander Bobby Munoz, 2-0 with four saves and a 1.59 earned-run average in 13 games at triple-A Rochester. Catcher Charlie Greene was optioned to Rochester.

The Boston Red Sox put pitcher Brian Rose on the disabled list and said Steve Avery would take his turn in the rotation in today’s game against Kansas City.
