Irvine Drops to 14th at Golf Regionals
UC Irvine dropped into a tie for 14th place at 596 with Nevada, New Mexico State and Texas El Paso after two of three days at the NCAA West Regional men’s golf tournament at Karsten Golf Course Friday in Tempe, Ariz.
First-place Arizona State, which shot 11-under-par 277 on Friday, is at 570, six strokes ahead of Nevada Las Vegas and New Mexico. UCI’s Conan Vitale shot five-over 77 Friday and is tied for 44th. Irvine is 10 strokes out of ninth place. The top nine teams advance to the NCAA Championships in Albuquerque.
