LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

In just a little over two weeks, Ventura County voters will be heading to the ballot booths for the first of two major elections this year.

While the big one comes in November, the June 2 vote features an array of important local choices for key jobs in county government, as well as one of the most interesting judicial battles in recent history.

When we launched the Ventura County Edition of The Times in 1990, we did so without a local editorial page giving us a proper platform for endorsements. But we added that much-needed voice last summer, and in recent weeks we have been wrestling with our own choices in several races.

You will find our picks in the two county supervisor races as well as those for Superior Court judge, county superintendent of schools, county assessor and county auditor-controller today on B18.
