Favored Fleet Lady Is Winner of B. Thoughtful at Hollywood Park
Back on her preferred surface, 6-5 favorite Fleet Lady overcame some trouble at the start and passed 9-1 shot Fascinate late to win by half a length in the $100,000 B. Thoughtful Stakes on Saturday at Hollywood Park.
Ridden by Garrett Gomez, who came through the narrowest of openings along the rail entering the stretch, Fleet Lady--a 4-year-old Avenue Of Flags filly--was timed in 1:21 3/5 for seven furlongs. It was the 10th win in 20 starts for Fleet Lady, who is owned by John and Betty Mabee’s Golden Eagle Farm and trained by Jerry Hollendorfer.
Fleet Lady had finished fourth in her previous start at a mile on turf.
Fun In Excess, the 9-5 second choice who has the same owner (Mike Pegram) and trainer (Bob Baffert) as Saturday’s Preakness winner Real Quiet, finished sixth.
A race earlier, Green Jewel, the 2-1 second choice, won for the second time in three starts since Dave Hofmans took over as her trainer, defeating favored Society Dream by three lengths in the $57,200 Windsharp. Ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, the 4-year-old British-bred filly ran the 1 1/4 miles on turf in 2:01 1/5.
