Boy Recovering After Being Hit by Car
A 10-year-old Oxnard boy was recovering at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara on Monday after being hit by a car, authorities said.
Nestor Sanchez was chasing a ball when he ran into the street near Ventura Boulevard and Nyeland Avenue about 7 p.m. Sunday. The boy was hit by a Buick Skylark driven by Donald Wells, 64, of Nipomo.
Paramedics rushed the boy to St. John’s Regional Medical Center before transferring him to the Santa Barbara hospital for children. Wells was not cited, Oxnard traffic investigator Joe Kaniewski said.
After surgery to stop a brain hemorrhage, the boy was in serious condition but expected to make a full recovery, police and a hospital spokeswoman said.
