Comedy Act by Ex-Gang Member to Highlight Benefit Program
A community organization and a former gang member-turned-comedian are teaming up tonight for an evening of jokes and entertainment in Windsor Hills that will benefit a job training program for at-risk youths, organizers said.
The event, billed as “Tickle Me Thursday” will be hosted by Bubba-Loc, a former Rollin’ 60 Crip who quit the gang life to become a humorist.
“He used to make them cry tears of pain now he’s making them cry tears of laughter,” said Brian Mustafa Long, the president of Raising Intelligent Strong Economics, who is helping to organize the event. “He saw what a waste gang life was and is using his talents now to help people.”
The event will be at Park Place, a private club at 4416 W. Slauson Ave. and will be from 9:30 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $6 before 10:30. For information: (213) 296-4244.
