The city’s Public Utilities Department has won two awards for its energy and water programs from the California Municipal Utilities Assn.

The city received honors for developing public benefit programs including efforts to promote energy efficiency and conservation; services and special rates for low-income customers; and research and development.

A second award for best management practices was given to the city for its Bowling for Dollars program, aimed at encouraging businesses to replace toilets with water-conserving models.
