UC Irvine’s Engesser Wins 800 at Big West Conference Meet
UC Irvine’s Christie Engesser won the 800 meters Saturday at the Big West Conference track championships in Boise, Idaho.
Engesser, a senior, won in 2 minutes 8.31 seconds. The Anteater women were seventh with 55 points. Utah State won the women’s team title with 239 points.
UCI’s Kristine Bostik was third (1:01.04) in the 400 low hurdles and Heather Perrin was fourth (24.9) in the 400 meters. Christy Villa finished fourth (10:07.70) in the 3,000.
The Cal State Fullerton women were 10th with 20.5 points. Sarah MacDougal was the top Titan performer, finishing third (17:40.69) in the 5,000 meters and ninth (10:15.60) in the 3,000 meters.
The Anteater men were seventh (36.5) and the Titans 10th (25.5). Utah State won with 182.5 points.
UCI’s Robert Frichtel was second in the 800 meters in 1:51.34. Teammate Brian Karpman was third in 1:51.64.
The Titans’ Quincy Sims was third (48 feet 06.25 inches) in the triple jump.
