* Story line: The Sun Devils were 11-10 winners over Florida State in the opening game of the College World Series and will send out staff ace Ryan Mills (7-3, 4.32), who pitched them to Omaha by beating Georgia Tech, 3-1, in the final of the Central Regional. Miami counters with Darryl Roque (13-2, 4.33), who has struck out 68 and walked only 19 in 79 innings.

* Story line: The 49ers send out Caleb Balbuena (7-3, 5.12) in an attempt to stave off elimination after a 3-1 loss to Miami on Friday in which they got only four hits. It was the fourth College World Series in a row in which Long Beach State lost its opening game. The 49ers have won their second game in their last two trips to Omaha. Nick Stocks (7-2, 2.00) will be asked to keep Florida State in the tournament.
