GUS BODE

Bode is making his sixth run for office. Born in Boyle Heights, he grew up in Southern California and moved to Anaheim. He is married with four children and six grandchildren.

TOM DALY

First elected to the Anaheim City Council in 1988, Daly has helped the city become one of the county’s most successful business and convention sites. He has been mayor for six years.

* Career highlights: Aide to former Supervisor Ralph Clark. Member, Anaheim Union High School District Board of Trustees and Anaheim library board until his election to the City Council. Elected mayor 1992.

* Priorities: Continue the revitalization of downtown Anaheim. He will add police officers to the department and would like to see an increase in community policing. He would like to open new police stations in West Anaheim and Anaheim Hills.

BOB ZEMEL

First elected to the Anaheim City Council in 1994, Zemel is vice president of public affairs for title insurer Fidelity National Financial Inc. and formerly owned a real estate business and a mortgage company in Anaheim.

* Education: Attended Golden West College, Huntington Beach, studying police science and real estate.

* Career highlights: Member, Anaheim Planning Commission, 1991. Spearheaded effort to place Immigration and Naturalization Service agents in Anaheim jail. Selected Republican Local Elected Official of the Year in 1996.

* Priorities: Improve the city’s public safety programs. Deport illegal immigrants arrested for crimes. Push for city to absorb a state-mandated 2.85% electric utility fee, rather than pass it on to consumers.
