Council to Reconsider Business License Tax
Residents who were assessed a city business license tax they say they knew nothing about could get some relief from the City Council on Wednesday.
Council members are scheduled to review a recommendation to void three years’ worth of back taxes and penalties owed by residents who failed to pay the license tax.
Business owners would still be required to start paying the yearly business license tax, based on collected gross receipts. The yearly fees normally range from $30 to $35.
Owners who have already paid the penalties would have their money refunded.
