Injunction Denied in LAX Shuttle Reduction

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge gave airport officials the green light to proceed with their plans to reduce from 38 to three the number of full-service shuttle van companies operating at Los Angeles International Airport. Judge Robert O’Brien denied a temporary injunction requested by Shuttle 2000, a consortium of 14 small van operators who claim the three-company plan will put them out of business. Shuttle 2000 attorney Bernard LeSage said the group will press ahead with a lawsuit filed against LAX and the city of Los Angeles, which alleges that those entities violated public contracting laws in awarding the shuttle van concessions to SuperShuttle, Prime Time Shuttle and Xpress Shuttle. The City Council is slated to vote on the plan Nov. 13.
