Here’s a test. Which of the following are emergencies and therefore require a trip to the emergency room or a 911 call?
1. Someone is having a hard time breathing.
2. Someone is bleeding severely.
3. Someone is suddenly unable to speak or move.
If you answered “all of the above,” you win the prize. Other such situations include severe chest pain, blacking out, choking, poisoning, deep cuts and severe burns. All, of course, are problems that could cause death or permanent disability if quick action isn’t taken.
