Pipe Bomb Found Inside High School
PICO RIVERA —
A bomb threat suspended activities for much of the school day Thursday at El Rancho High School.
Sheriff’s deputies were called at 8 a.m., and the bomb squad discovered a pipe bomb under a stairwell.
“[It was] a plastic pipe bomb . . . filled with black powder, enhanced with nails taped to the exterior,” said sheriff’s Deputy Cruz Solis. “There were a couple of bullets inside.”
The school was evacuated and activities were suspended until 1 p.m., when the bomb was removed.
