Man Plunges to His Death Before Verdict Is Read
SANTA ANA —
A man on trial for assault fell from a 10th-floor balcony at the Orange County courthouse moments before the jury’s decision was to be read, police said.
Ituaso Naea, 22, fell to his death just before 5 p.m. Thursday. Naea was being tried on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.
Witnesses told officers it appeared that he had jumped. The cause of the fall was under investigation, said Lt. Jose Garcia.
The jury had found Naea guilty on the assault charge and he would have probably faced a prison term.
