Police said Tuesday they have identified the man stabbed and left for dead early Sunday in a parking lot.

Victor Manuel, 27, of Santa Ana was identified from a missing persons report filed Monday night at the Santa Ana Police Department, officials said.

Garden Grove police had responded at 1:30 a.m. Sunday to a call from a bartender saying that a man was bleeding in the parking lot of a tavern in the 12700 block of Garden Grove Boulevard. The victim, later identified as Manuel, was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died.

Police also released the identity Tuesday of the man arrested in connection with the incident. Officers questioned Felipe Soto Avelino, 28, of Orange at the scene and arrested him on suspicion of murder, Garden Grove Police Lt. John Woods said.

“We believe he was involved,” Woods said, adding that Avelino’s clothes were taken to the lab to be analyzed. He said Avelino was booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder.
