Thief Leaves Payment--in Monopoly Money
Sheriff’s deputies say a burglar didn’t leave his victims empty-handed: He loaded them up with Monopoly money.
St. Clair County authorities said at least four residents found Monopoly money in place of items stolen from their cars.
In one case, the thief left $15 in play money in lieu of a wallet. In another, he left a pile of fake bills in exchange for a pair of sunglasses.
Police arrested Andrew Dunlap, 58, last week and charged him with one count of burglary to a vehicle.
Deputies said a resident confronted Dunlap as he was getting out of the family’s car with a radar detector in his hand and a wad of Monopoly money in his pocket.
