All-Mitey Dust Triggers Asthma

Share

If you have asthma, you should also be a good housecleaner. Why? Most people with asthma are allergic to dust mite droppings.

Dust mites are tiny bugs that live in warm, damp places--like, your mattress and pillow. Don’t look for them; they’re too small to see, but believe it, they’re there. Where there’s dust, there are mites.

A couple of ways to bring yourself relief include:

* Wash bedding, washable pillows and stuffed toys in hot water (130 degrees) every week.

* Replace carpeting with tile or hardwood flooring. Use washable throw rugs.

* Use filters over heat vents.

* Keep clothing in a closet with the door shut.

* Wipe smooth furniture with a damp cloth every week.
