More Comdex: If parties are any indication, geeks don’t swing, they rock.

Last Monday, Microsoft held the largest party of the trade show, drawing 3,000 to the grand ballroom of the tres chic Bellagio Hotel with Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a band that is part of the current swing-dance fad.

But while attendees to the Microsoft invitation-only bash milled about the dance floor, clearly puzzled by a basic rock step, across town at a competing party, Conexant had the crowd slam-dancing against the stage with the B-52s, an ‘80s new wave group.

The opening act, comedian Dennis Miller, set the tone when, after being introduced by Decker, he incited an already-frenzied audience with the line, “Decker is a freak.”
