NEWPORT BEACH
The City Council at its meeting today will consider an agreement to lease the Balboa Theatre to the citizens group that has been trying to save the old movie house, which has been closed since 1992. The city agreed to buy the theater with $480,000 in grant money, and plans to lease it to the Balboa Performing Arts Theatre Foundation, which intends to renovate the venue and use it for movies and community events.
